Just a quick update post. I mentioned in an earlier post that I was writing a short story to submit to the Writer’s Digest’s short story competition. I completed and submitted my entry today. The title of this miniature story is “The Whispers In The Woods” (Posted in the Shorts section of my website). Today was the early bird deadline (lower entry fee), with the final deadline on December 15th. This was a challenge which I also spoke of in my last post. The maximum word count was 1500 words. I had to switch gears from taking the time and the words that come with developing a novel-length story and shrinking it all down into such a small amount. I came in at 1,472 words. Initially, I finished with 1545 words, but during the editing and bits of rewrite, I was able to come in under the maximum. I am looking possibly at a second submission. One of my existing works. Not sure yet.
Winners and Not Winners will be notified prior to February 28th, 2024. It is awesome that they will notify everyone, not just the winners. Soooooo…..this is going to be a long 3 ½ months! 😊
WOW! Awesome Phil! Scared me really well!
